Little Massingham Manor

History

Built in 1907 by an American Harley Street surgeon, Little Massingham Manor has a fascinating history. In the early days, it was a much loved family home, hosting many special social events that were well known across West Norfolk. During World War II, the Manor was requisitioned and used by the RAF as an officers’ mess for the area. Many well known pilots stayed at the property, and there are still two bunkers on site that are testament to that era. In 1962, the property became a flourishing retreat centre for nuns. Then in 2008, Little Massingham Manor was purchased by a family and underwent a major programme of refurbishment throughout.

In 2021, the current owner bought the property and has invested significantly to achieve his vision and desire to see Little Massingham Manor rightly restored as a magnificent venue and grounds to hold social occasions – and furthermore as a very special place for guests to unwind, and immerse themselves in nature and exclusive tranquillity.

The recent developments have reflected the ambition to create that exclusive, tranquil and environmentally friendly feel. The lodges within the grounds (Manor Cottage, Nutkins, Jacobs and Ryelands) have been lovingly restored/created and are located in tranquil havens within the grounds. All have access to their own private wood burning hot tubs.

Amongst the tranquil spots across the grounds, there is an abundance of wildlife including roe deer, hare, hedgehog - a real paradise for nature lovers. One of the paddocks had new post and rail fencing installed in December 2022.

Services

We have formed partnerships with health and catering professionals who share those values with us. Elements at the Manor are based on site, and offer a variety of wellbeing, health, fitness and beauty services for all our guests.

Within the Manor itself, 7 separate bedrooms have been beautifully furnished and prepared for our guests to enjoy on a regular basis. A new breakfast room has been created and laid out for our guests to enjoy, with views out to the incredible lawns. Feedback from guests to date has been overwhelmingly positive – both in terms of the property itself, and the 63 acres of exclusive woodland, professionally designed gardens and meadows to explore. With busier lives ever than before, we really understand the need to just relax, restore and renew – and believe Little Massingham Manor offers just the opportunity to do that.

As well as group stays and individual stays within the Manor, we believe the property and grounds offer a fantastic opportunity for:
