KL Magazine Feature - An exciting time for Little Massingham Manor
A sublime step away from the stresses of everyday life, this magnificent Arts and Crafts house offers an exclusive retreat experience
With its fascinating history and stunning scenery, Little Massingham Manor has been the jewel in the village's crown since it was built in 1907. It's seen many uses over the decades, from a much loved family home and an officers' mess during World War II, to a religious retreat for 30 years. Now, it's a stunning social setting offering visitors an outstanding opportunity to unwind, relax and recharge.
This has been made possible thanks to the current owner, who purchased the manor in August 2021. His vision was to restore the beautiful venue for groups to appreciate once more and design a creative and immersive experience filled with nature and tranquillity. With the help of innovative Property Manager, Simon Graham, this dream has become a reality.
There are six beautifully furnished bedrooms within the grand but homely manor, as well as a large breakfast room - all offering breathtaking views out to the grounds and passing wildlife. A small piece of paradise, it's the perfect setting to celebrate a special occasion with loved ones as well as a great spot for restorative retreats for groups of six to ten people. There are a number of other luxurious properties available to let within the grounds of the idyllic estate, including Manor Cottage, Nutkin Cottage and Jacobs Hut, all of which have been expertly renovated using reclaimed timber.
With 63 acres of woodland, arboretum parkland and gardens to explore - not to mention stunning architecture and fine decor - Little Massingham Manor is very popular with reading and writing groups as well as artists. It's also renowned for being a spectacular setting for health and wellbeing breaks thanks to the fantastic opportunities on offer.
"With the help of Emma Williamson and Annette Lavender we've created 'Elements at the Manor', providing access to a range of relaxing treatments, fitness classes and a modern gym," Simon explains. "And that's not all. Nestled within the grounds are a number of eco-friendly wood burning hot tubs, which will soon be joined by a luxurious woodland sauna and invigorating ice bath."
Together with an emphasis on healthy eating and abundance of fresh countryside air, Little Massingham Manor is the perfect place to escape to. The peaceful property is also an excellent venue for corporate retreats as it offers access to a range of enriching team building activities – from guided nature walks and craft workshops to wine and gin tasting sessions. Simon would also recommend visiting the local area if you have time.
"Just down the road is the picturesque village of Great Massingham, which was recently named one of the best places to live in the East of England. With Houghton Hall, Sandringham Estate and an array of superb pubs nearby, the area is certainly worth exploring," he says.
